Wari Warriors

Postby Jew-ish » Fri Jun 10, 2011 2:07 am

Is it just me or are they in dire need of some balancing? I've yet to run into a skilled player who doesn't use them almost exclusivly... they need some serious nerfage...

It's possible i've simply yet to find a good way to counter them but so far it seems the only way to beat a wari army is with a wari army... even then it all comes down to who gets stun off first (stun>buff>kill everything)

If anyone kow a good counter please let me know... i'm getting very tired of non stop wari battles...

P.S. whats up with all the disconnects? does the community suck and quit when they're losing or does this game have really really bad servers?

It seems a lot of people like to use just the Wari Warriors.
There are ways to counter them but you have to be smart about it :)

Online is peer to peer, but we know there have been some connection issues, we will look into that.

I hate to be a troll, but I ran into Pina on the game, and would like to say -

fix the multiplayer so I don't have to beg admins for free wins. If you can't fix it, let those who just want the trophy have the win.

Yes you did ran into me.
We wanted people to have fun while playing, not go around asking others to lose just to get a trophy.
Regadless I understand your concern and we are looking into a solution.

Here are 2 EXTREMELY simple-to-implement solutions:

1. A countdown - when one person clicks start, the other player has 60-120 seconds (just an example) to also click start or leave the room. If the timer reaches zero, the non-starting player is considered to forfeit and the player who did hit start receives a win.

2. As for rage-quitting, make a "point of no return" in each MP round. After 30-60 seconds have passed in game (keep the timer hidden, keeps the tension up if all of the sudden FIGHT TO THE FINISH or something flashes on the screen when the timer runs out), should one player quit, the other receives a win. After that point, it would be hard to argue an unstable connection or urgent business - should those arise, well, whoops, but it's hard to determine the winner of a round within a minute (with the "need a level to capture a base" system - a concept I thoroughly love as it forces skillful play rather than troop spamming) so a rage quitter would be past the P.O.N.R. before he or she can even determine if quitting is advantageous.

I feel you have a quality product here, a phenomenal product should some changes be implemented. I look forward to it.

The main difficulty of dealing with Wari Warriors (I personally love the furry brutes) is there ground pound which locks opponents for a second. In one game I played, the enemy and I ground each other down with Wari-lock (haha, kind of like warlock....but, uh, not) while our other troops had to slog it out. If one of us relented, the other's Waris would have decimated us. I only pulled ahead because I had three Waris and two archers Vs. his two Waris, magic user dude (forgot the name as I never use them), Mekitu Saboteur, and Mekitu blow dart guy/toad/thing. It was a tough game, and tense, too. Of the 5 games I finished (out of about 10-20 played, rage-quitting makes me rageful), that was certainly the best.

I agree with LonestarGoner. Except, to avoid boosting abuse, NEVER give a WIN to anyone.

After the counter runs down in the Lobby, give a LOSS to the player(s) that don't ready up.
Don't do anything with the player(s) that do ready up.

If someone quits after a set time in a match, the quiter gets a LOSS, the others get NOTHING.

@Lord Triger,

My only reason for giving the win is that the trophy requires wins - online required trophies are something I oppose as it makes it impossible for people without a stable internet to go platinum on many games. The assumption of constant web access is a glaring fallacy that many companies ignorantly accept. I personally would rather play most games offline. I care nothing about leaderboard position and have few people with whom I play similar games. When I do play multiplayer, I simply play locally.

Until companies understand that many gamers, a significant portion, do not play online much, this ignorance will continue and devoted gamers and consumers will be unable to completely finish quality games - embittering them more and more and eventually costing companies business.

Please, Seed Studios, do not forget your offline market. Yes, they do have internet access by which they have purchased the game (friends of mine at times take their PS3s to other people's houses who have internet and buy there). Please do not look down at them by demanding online for trophies. Be the better people - remember that there are some not in that position. I am one of those people. Yes, I do have internet access, but I play offline for the most part, and enjoy local multiplayer much more than online - which might as well be against a computer. I have no idea who they are or what they look like. To me, I do not even know they exist beyond them moving their pieces.

Make a game for all, and able to be fully enjoyed by all. I promise you that doing so will endear you to so many gamers, and garner a great deal of respect and business.

@LonestarGoner,

Add me on PSN, (Lord_Triger_LO)
I suck online, so you should be able to win against me without me just handing you a win...
I know how you feel... this game is awesome, i too want every trophy. (i will get the 5 wins 1 on my own though, T-5 ISP :D ).

@Lonestar gamer
I understand the online thing with getting the trophies.
That is why we only put 3 that we thought were very easy when comparing with other online games, we didn't want people getting stuck because of this.

But the game is an online game, you buy it online, so we have to assume you are online, even so we support splitscreen for local play and made a big campaing.
As for the fact that you don't know who is on the other side, we support video chat.

Thanks for the comments guys, we are gamers as well and we want to fine tune our game as much as possible.
